If you are trying to get a particular enchantment but got one you don’t want, you can use a grindstone to remove it. However, if you do not spawn near a village, you will have to craft the grindstone yourself. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to make a grindstone in Minecraft.
How to Make a Grindstone in Minecraft
To craft a grindstone, you will need two sticks, two wooden planks, and a stone slab. You can obtain wooden planks but obtaining a wooden log and crafting it into four planks. You can use two of the four planks to craft sticks. There are two main ways you can obtain stone slabs. Use three stone blocks in a crafting table to craft six slabs, or use a stonecutter to turn one stone block into two stone slabs. The image above shows how you must arrange each item in the 3×3 grid in a crafting table. You cannot craft the grindstone in the 2×2 grid in your regular inventory since you need a total of five spots for your items.

Additionally, grindstones in Minecraft naturally spawn in village weaponsmiths. However, you are not guaranteed to find a weaponsmith shop in every village you encounter. Weaponsmiths are much more likely to generate in Taiga biome villages naturally. Once you make a grindstone, you can use it to either repair or disenchant your tools. If you place an enchanted item into the GUI and a non-enchanted item, you will get a non-enchanted tool in return. You will lose both of the items in the process.
