It takes a pretty bold criminal to commit your crimes in broad daylight, without any sort of face cover. That, or the culprit is just shameless, which seems to be the case for a Minnesota woman who was caught stealing Christmas decorations from someone’s front yard. Uploaded to Reddit’s r/mildlyinfuriating, the post showed what appeared to be a Caucasian woman roaming a neighborhood sidewalk while grabbing some decor she spotted near a Ring security camera. “With a grocery bag full of other people’s plants too,” the poster added.
Unfortunately, it’s known that the police usually aren’t much of a help in these sorts of incidents, considering the total cost of the thief’s stolen goods wouldn’t amount to much. Minnesota law does state that there’s a $1,000 fine or 90-day jail time for property stolen with a value of $500 or less, but a bag of plants and yard decorations won’t make the culprit a branded criminal with the authorities.
Yet, the top commenter shared a good idea if the poster was interested in finding the troublemaker. “Put it out to the neighbors and start taking pictures of plates of cars that don’t belong there. Process of elimination may lead you to an answer,” suggested the user. “How pathetic can you be?” another person said, questioning how desperate the woman is to take her neighbor’s plants and decor. “Horrible. Hope they get caught,” remarked a third. “Some people man…..unreal. Like stealing stuff to survive I can kinda understand the motive. But stealing decorations?” chimed in a fourth.
Hopefully, the homeowner of the Ring camera makes a report to the local police at the very least. Petty thievery or not, it’s definitely more than mildly infuriating that someone is out and about getting away with illegal behavior. The woman might also be delusional, as she told herself, “well, you can’t throw it away,” while taking the Christmas decorations.
