A couple from Gladstone, Missouri, was travelling the country when, all of a sudden, their truck’s propane tank exploded thanks to a spark. While they were able to walk away visibly unscathed, the vehicle wasn’t so lucky, as it was reduced to ashes.
Kylie and Chris shared the moments following the car fire on TikTok. They are an influencer couple who often vlog their travels across the United States, and were recently at Yellowstone. The clip attached above went viral, garnering 518,100 views, 80,700 likes, and close to 300 comments in less than a day.
The Missouri couple began vlogging the aftermath of the car fire while in the middle of the road. Chris detailed that they were driving down the road when the pickup truck’s propane tank sparked and exploded.
He managed to pull over in time, and both got out of the truck and called the fire department. A fire truck could be seen in the background of the video, as well as a police vehicle.
‘Everything Is Gone’
Kylie was in disbelief, most likely frightened by such a close call. Meanwhile, Chris comforted her by saying that both of them were safe. The truck, however, wasn’t so lucky.
“The truck is totaled. It’s completely gone,” Chris said. Kylie added, “They can’t get the fire completely out, but once they do, we’re gonna go and see our belongings.”
Eventually, the fire was put out. All that remained was the truck’s frame. Everything else had been reduced to ashes.
“Everything is gone,” Kylie said. “I can’t believe this. That was my seat. Power tools gone. Everything gone. Like, I don’t even remember what I had in here.”
The truck was towed, and Kylie and Chris were driven back to civilization by first responders.
Reactions
The Missouri couple’s clip sparked many responses, mostly from concerned viewers. One said, “Glad you’re safe. It could’ve been worse.” Another one commented, “This is absolutely insane. So glad y’all are good.”
Other viewers complimented Chris on how he handled the situation. One wrote, “Omg, what a gentleman.” Finally, some shared their own car fire experiences. One viewer shared, “A similar thing happened to me, except my engine exploded and I’m lucky to be alive.”
Kylie and Chris have yet to post an update following the car fire. By the looks of it, they are doing just fine.
