Capcom recently surprised everyone by announcing a new Monster Hunter game with a complete graphical makeover, leaving the design of old Monster Hunter games for a new cell-shaded look. A teaser trailer was released showing a young hunter gathering an egg with a redesigned Felyne companion, only to be chased by a Tigrex. We are able to see some new colorful environments, with a few cameos from old enemies/resources.
Monster Hunter Stories is planned for release in 2016 in Japan. As of now there is yet no information if Monster Hunter Stories is considered a spin-off or a main entry in the series, or even if it will launch in the west.
Stay tuned for more updates.
