Days Gone, PlayStation exclusives

Sony’s impressive slate of exclusive PlayStation games has proved a defining factor in the ongoing console wars. From The Last of Us to Bloodborne and Spider-Man, there are so many top titles. Firstly, it was Horizon Zero Dawn which became available on PC, and now it looks like more titles will follow.

Interestingly, Horizon Zero Dawn wasn’t received particularly well upon release on PC. The switch caused many issues that were not present in its PlayStation counterpart. It definitely wasn’t the smoothest transition. But after several updates, fans are starting to enjoy it as much as they did on PlayStation.

Despite its initial problems, Sony will continue to roll out exclusives on PC. Recently, we learned that post-apocalyptic open-world title Days Gone will become the next Sony exclusive to make the switch to PC this spring!

Recently speaking to GQ, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan explained why he’s interested in bringing these games to the PC platform:

“There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognize the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved. Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown.”

He further explains why he believes it’s a good idea to bring these games to PC gaming:

“We assessed the exercise in two ways. Firstly, in terms of the straightforward success of the activity of publishing the game on PC, people liked it and they bought it. We also looked at it through the lens of what the PlayStation community thought about it. There was no massive adverse reaction to it. So we will continue to take mission steps in this direction.”

It’s certainly a lucrative move from Sony. Hopefully, soon PC gamers will have the opportunity to experience PlayStation exclusives.
