Motorola is reported to be developing three smartphone models with HD resolution screens (2.560 x 1.440) or Quad HD (QHD). The news were reported by a Reddit user by the name of AndroidLeaks, who discovered this information from an analytics system.
The source of the information is questionable. Anonymous user posted the vague information on Reddit, with an interesting story and specifications to back it up.
The models said are XT1578, XT1585, and XT192A. All three models uses QHD display technology, runs on Android 5.1.lollipop, and will be rumoured to be bundled with Verizon Wireless carrier.
There’s a possibility that one of these models is the new Moto X 2015, due to the smartphone being Motorola’s flagship phone. Therefore, the chances of Moto G or Moto E to have QHD screen resolutions are slim to none. Although according to Droid-Life, it seems to be rather odd with Motorola’s recent line released if one of the rumoured models confirmed to be the third generation Moto X.
Another possibility is that the three models would be under the name of Droid, because of the reports that says the smartphones will be bundled with Verizon Wireless. Verizon has a history of using the name Droid, when releasing Motorola models bundled with them.
Droid-Life also reported that random news outlet have posted the rumoured specs for the third generation Moto X 2015, which includes:
5.2 inch QHD AMOLED display, 16MP camera with OIS, 5MP front camera, Snapdragon 808 processor, 4GB RAM, 3280mAH battery, and Android 5.1.1
The three models are reported to be in testing in Chicago, with controlled interior and exterior environment. Unfortunately, the specifications released contains only information about screen resolutions, and nothing else.
With all these rumours surrounding new models, there’s no official confirmations with Motorola. We have to wait and see for the official release of these smartphones. What do you think? Fan of Motorola? Let us know what you prefer in the comments below!
