A Muslim ice cream shop owner in Pennsylvania shared that his car was vandalized outside his home in what appeared to be a hate-motivated incident.
The incident happened to the owner of Greco’s Italian Ices & Homemade Ice Cream. He shared a post on the shop’s Facebook page detailing what had happened. The post included a photo of his car, which appeared to have been extensively vandalized while it was parked outside his home.
The owner’s car had multiple deep scratches, and the words “pig” and “terrorist” had also been carved into it. Along with the photos of the damage, he shared a doorbell camera video showing an individual ringing his doorbell before running away. According to the owner, this occurred shortly after the vandalism took place.
It remains unclear whether the individual seen in the video was responsible for the damage. Addressing this, the owner wrote, “At this time, we don’t know if this individual was directly involved or simply happened to be there, but he is currently our best lead.”
According to the owner, police responded to the scene and documented the damage to the vehicle. He is now asking the community for help identifying the individual seen in the doorbell video in the hope that it will lead police to the person responsible for the vandalism.
The owner also offered a reward for information that helps identify the individual. “As a thank you, if your information leads to the identification of this individual, I’d be happy to reward you with a 3-gallon bucket of Greco’s Homemade Ice Cream or Italian Ice,” the post read.
In addition, the owner urged anyone who recognized the individual not to harass, threaten, or confront him, instead asking the community to allow law enforcement to handle the investigation. He also emphasized that his business welcomes everyone. “I also want to address something that’s been circulating. I was born and raised in Lititz, and Greco’s has always been about bringing people together. We welcome everyone who treats others with kindness and respect, and that will never change,” he wrote. As of now, no additional information about the incident or any potential suspect has been released.
