Finally, Nintendo and gaming fans got the great news of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its release date. Incredible exclusive Nintendo games, collaborations with renowned partners, and titles with backward compatibility. What we didn’t see during this Nintendo Direct about the Nintendo Switch 2, however, was a single crumb of information about Genshin Impact coming to this new console. This leaves the Travelers in the dark once again, even though many of us were expecting it.
This Nintendo Direct marks the fifth consecutive year since HoYoverse officially announced that Genshin Impact would be on Nintendo’s console. An announcement that appeared before the gacha game’s release on its official YouTube channel. Yet, this hasn’t surprised the fans because, in the beginning, the HoYoverse team just shared the video and completely forgot about it afterward.
Many had high hopes and saw the Nintendo Direct as a way for HoYoverse to bring back the topic of Genshin on the Switch. This is because the rumors or fan justifications for not having the game on the handheld were due to the hardware not being powerful enough. Of course, as Genshin is a mobile game, it’s pretty ridiculous, mainly because Zelda games are big, ambitious, and have incredible graphics, which work perfectly. However, again, there wasn’t any information about whether we could play Genshin Impact from the comfort of the Nintendo Switch 2.
Although we should not see everything negatively, the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 was today. Even though the developers presented the lineup of games for the new console in the same Direct, the presenters said they would announce more games, so there’s still a smidgen of hope that Genshin Impact gets announced for the wee handheld-console hybrid. Also, remember that the game’s official YouTube channel shared the game’s release for Nintendo Switch. So fans are hopeful that there will be some news or information in the future, with the upcoming Genshin anniversary in September likely being the next date the developers could surprise us. We’ll see if this promise is finally fulfilled or if it will continue to be forgotten in a corner of YouTube.
