How to Get and Use Crystallized Charges in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Zelda series doesn’t usually have you busting rocks with a pickaxe, but Tears of the Kingdom still cares about crystals. Of those, the Crystallized Charges forged from Zonaite are of particular importance. Raw Zoanite is a no-go, however, requiring Link to find and operate a refinery. With this crucial resource reshaped into a more malleable form, the true power of Crystallized Charges becomes apparent. Here’s how to get and use Crystallized Charges in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

To obtain Crystallized Charges, you’ll first need to locate Zonaite, the raw material used to create them. Zonaite can be found throughout Hyrule, so you’ve likely already stumbled upon some. Once you’ve acquired Zonaite, head to a refinery on the map. One such refinery is situated on the initial island.ย  Here’s what you need to do next:

  • Find a Steward Construct to refine Zoanite
  • The Construct has a daily limit on how much Zoanite it can process
  • If the Crystallized Charges run out, you’ll need to wait a game day to buy more

For a refinery with greater capacity, venture south of the central underground region of Hyrule to find the entrance of the Great Abandoned Central Mine. This refinery offers Crystallized Charges and heftier ones, each large crystal equivalent to 20 standard ones. Additionally, keep an eye out for chests belonging to the Yiga Clan scattered throughout the underground, as they may contain Crystallized Charges.

At last, it’s time to upgrade your battery capacity. To do so you just need to interact with the forge’s helper golem. You can then exchange your Crystallized Charges for battery expansions. If you’re unsure of where to go, you can find a forge conveniently located just outside the north gate of Prunia’s main camp. Other forges exist, but this location makes acquiring expansions easy. The longer your battery capacity in Tears of the Kingdom, the more wiggle room you have for a variety of activities. An upgraded battery also tends to make challenging quests easier, so make like that one rabbit and get your energizer on.
