Unlocking New Crafting Stations in the Research Center in My Time at Sandrock
In My Time at Sandrock, you unlock new crafting stations by researching blueprints at the Research Center. Though, it’s important to note that before you can unlock any new crafting stations in My Time at Sandrock in the Research Center, you must first obtain Data Discs.
Data Discs can be found by doing various actions around Sandrock. One of the most common ways to collect Data Discs is to mine in Abandoned Ruins as you find and uncover them. You can also get them by interacting with Junk Piles and collecting Scrap from dilapidated structures.
You’ll find the Research Center just north of Mi-an’s House and east of the Temple. Head to the Research Center and speak to Qi to view various social interaction options. Choose the data disc option to view all of your available research options. From there, you can choose while new Crafting Station blueprints to unlock in My Time at Sandrock.
In exchange for Data Discs, you can research different machine blueprints. You can also spend data discs to speed up the time it takes to research your chosen crafting station. You’ll unlock new crafting stations that you can then make at your Assembly Station within your own workshop. However, if you want to upgrade any of your machines, you’ll also have to research the upgraded machine blueprint. In particular, the following crafting stations are ones you’ll want to prioritize:
After obtaining a blueprint in the mail once you’ve unlocked it in the Research Station, head to your Assembly Station and build the machine. While you’ll still need various crafting materials to make different crafting stations, you don’t need to unlock each blueprint more than once. Furthermore, each crafting station is also helpful for completing commissions.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to upgrade your Assembly Station or build animal housing, your destination will be Construction Junction. You’ll find Construction Junction next to the City Hall. Head to the shop and interact with the Catalog. Select Structures to see the Assembly Station upgrade and three different animal buildings. While you are not required to build the animal shelter structures to advance the story, you’ll need to upgrade your Assembly Station here later on.
