What adventures could be in store for Benjamin Gates? Will Disney bring the original cast back or will they go a different path similar to Bill & Ted Face the Music? With Chris Bremner assigned to the project, we can guess that National Treasure 3 will be over the top!
Earlier today, the Hollywood Reporter casually revealed that Nation Treasure 3 is currently in development. The announcement came in the final paragraph of an article discussing the possibility of Bad Boys 4. Bad Boys for Life (Bad Boys 3) released earlier today and was written by Chris Bremner. You can see the paragraph down below.
“Bremner’s schedule is heating up as he is also writing National Treasure 3 for Disney, among other projects. That project is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who is also the producer behind Bad Boys for Life. He is repped by Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment. “
Back in 2018, National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub told ComicBook.com that he, Bruckheimer, and star Nicolas Cage were set to make National Treasure 3, but Disney wasn’t ready to spend the money. Below is the exact quote.
“It’s a no. I would love there to be. Nic is like, in wardrobe right now. Jerry Bruckheimer is ready to go. We would love to do. In order to get National Treasure 3 made, someone will have to come up with about 80 million dollars to have it made.”
Demand for Nation Treasure 3
As you can see, there is still a demand for the National Treasure franchise. With the Success of Disney + and Disney films, it might just be the right time for a National Treasure 3. Earlier this week, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker was the 7th film to surpass $1 billion dollars. Earlier this year, Disney announced that their hit Disney + show, The Mandalorian, would be receiving a second season in the Fall of 2020. Will National Treasure 3 feature the dynamic trio of Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, and Diane Kruger? We will just have to wait and see.
