NBA Legend Michael Jordan was just celebrating his 23XI Racing team’s win at the Daytona 500. This was the team’s first win, and Jordan was filmed celebrating with his driver, Tyler Reddick. Unfortunately, a short clip during the celebration has gone viral and not for good reasons. Jordan was seen interacting with Reddick’s young son, and people are alleging that what Jordan was doing was inappropriate. This sparked a major debate, as many defended the former basketball player. A lot of his fans pointed out that he has been close to Reddick’s family for years.
In the viral clip, Michael Jordan was seen scratching what appeared to be the young boy’s lower back. While he was doing this, he would also pull at the t-shirt a little bit. He was then scratching the boy’s leg. Of course, this made people allege that Jordan was touching Reddick’s son inappropriately.
This wild claim made people explain what they believed actually happened. Apparently, some ice had gotten inside the boy’s t-shirt during the celebrations. Jordan noticed this and tried to get the ice off. That would explain why he was also pulling at the t-shirt for a few seconds. This is probably the most reasonable explanation.
People Reacting to the Viral Clip of Michael Jordan
Many people believed his actions weren’t innocent, and they worried about the boy’s safety. Since the video looks bad at first glance, one person wrote, “The heck is he doing?” Another person didn’t like people defending Jordan as they said, “Forget it’s Michael Jordan. What if you saw your brother, or your boss, or your neighbor doing that to some kid? It’s [expletive] weird and people need to stop hesitating just because it’s Michael Jordan. If I EVER saw my brother doing that to a kid, I would absolutely lose my [expletive] at him.” Someone else said, “Wow, that’s so aggressive. Also I love how we have to use the word ‘allegedly’ when we can see it happening with our own eyes.”
On the other hand, many people defended Jordan. “It’s the driver’s son. They had just won the Daytona 500. Jordan is very close with the family, including the son. Apparently the kid has ice from the Gatorade bath in his clothing and Jordan was helping him. Pretty simple. I don’t think a person who has no history of being a child predator is going to suddenly assault a child on TV when thousands of cameras are on him,” one person explained.
Another person said, “How about we turn our outrage to the actual pedophiles who are doing horrific [expletive] to children on camera, like Trump and his buddies.” Context will always be important.
