With a release date not even set, many people may have forgotten about the new A Series of Unfortunate Events show that Netflix has promised. But with the first images of Count Olaf available, fans of the book series can start getting excited about it.
Neil Patrick Harris will be portraying the villainous Count, and given the images we have so far, he will certainly look the part. Some pictures of him in costume were posted by Vancity Buzz, and he looks almost unrecognizable – well, I say almost.
Those who know Neil Patrick Harris for his role in How I Met Your Mother may have had a few doubts about his ability to be anything other than the lovable guy we know he is. And Olaf is certainly one of the worst human beings, adopting the Baudelaire children simply to get at their wealth. However, Neil Patrick Harris is a quite versatile actor and lends confidence to his ability in this role. His most recent role in Gone Girl earned him a lot of praise – and who could forget his classic run as the endearing protagonist/villain of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog?
A Series of Unfortunate Events will be executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler. Handler is also known as the “legal, literary and social representative” for Lemony Snicket, the author of the series. The show is predicted to be released in late 2016.
