Things aren’t looking too bright for this Georgia peach. According to InTouch, NeNe Leakes’ bank account will be garnished to pay off a debt of unpaid rent. Fans of NeNe will remember the reality star opened a boutique called Swagg during her run on RHOA. She closed the doors permanently during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. However, the property owner claimed she never paid the remaining balance of her rent.
In the original filing, MPG-Sugarloaf said they were seeking to recoup the $22,000 they lost at the hands of the former Bravo star. In November 2023, a default judgment of $25,631 was entered against her. According to court documents, a Georgia judge signed off on the judgment, agreeing that the funds could be seized from NeNe’s account at Truist Bank.
NeNe Leakes Misses Late Husband Gregg ‘So Much’
When news first broke that NeNe Leakes’ bank account was being seized, it was hard to believe. On the Real Housewives of Atlanta, she’s always boasted about being “very rich.” So, why wouldn’t she pay her overdue bill?
According to her, the remaining balance wasn’t her responsibility; it was her late husband’s. “Gregg signed the lease, not me,” NeNe said. “He ain’t here.”
Gregg died in September 2021 after his battle with colon cancer.
Recently, on Instagram Live, NeNe discussed how life has been without her husband of nearly 25 years. She started by saying she missed him “so much.”
“There’s this old saying that you never miss a good thing until it’s gone like that sh-t is for real,” she said. “I didn’t even realize how valuable Gregg was to my life or to us until he was gone. Because it’s so many times when I want to be like, ‘Oh, Gregg would like that,’ you know? And then I have to remind myself that Gregg is not here.”
Despite her financial troubles, NeNe could have some major wins to celebrate soon. As we know, NeNe and Bravo haven’t seen eye-to-eye since they fired her in 2020. However, she made her return to NBC in September 2024 while hosting an after-party during the Emmys. When she announced her new gig online, she wrote an interesting caption that got people talking.
“GLAD TO BE BACK WITH MY NBC UNI FAMILY,” she wrote, followed by, “the door is open.”
Could this be the start of something new? Fans can only hope.
