It is time to bend reality and defy gravity, once again, in Control’s new DLC: AWE. AWE or Alan Wake Expansion is the newest expansion to Control and per the developers, it will be the game’s final add-on. The real question here is, what has Alan Wake done to warrant his own DLC?
Gamers get to play Jesse Faden, once again. For the uninitiated, Jesse Faden is the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, which is housed in a very special building called The Oldest House. The purpose of the Bureau of Control is to investigate AWEs. AWE also stands for Altered World Events—so the double meaning isn’t confusing at all, right—and they feature heavily in the main story and the other DLCs.
The Oldest House is very special building filled with different sectors. This expansion will focus on the Investigation Sector. The purpose of this Sector is to investigate, you guessed it, the AWEs—the Altered World Events, not other acronym.
In the course of investigating the Sector, Jesse learns of a creature terrorizing the area. To defeat the creature, players must look into several AWEs—still Altered World Events, we’re getting to the Alan Wake stuff—particularly an event that occurred in Bright Falls. While looking into the events in Bright Falls, Jesse learns about the disappearance of one, Alan Wake—told you we would get to him. The DLC was announced along with an update for the main game as well as new of new powers for Jesse to master. Apparently Jesse’s telekinesis gets a boost, yes please.
Remedy has created a real gem with Control. There is a reason Control was listed as IGN’s Game of the Year in 2019. If the main story and the previous DLCs are any indication of how this new add-on will look, then fans are sure to be impressed.
