Social media has become a battleground for debate on many topics, but there’s one thing that pretty much everyone agrees on, and that’s never to mess with innocent animals. One New Jersey man seems not to have gotten that memo, as he attacked a dog for supposedly going number one on his property.
While the clip itself shows the dog on the public sidewalk in front of the man’s property, the animal presumably did its business on the person’s lawn. The dog’s human never argues that claim, but it’s possible he just didn’t want to escalate the situation further by debating his pet’s exact location. Either way, the man seemed convinced that the animal was on his property, and went on to kick the dog and make threats to its life.
Unsurprisingly, the clip’s comments section made it clear that, regardless of whether the dog had answered nature’s call, there was no justification for the man’s treatment of it. One person wrote, “Unwise to kick someone’s dog. People love their dogs.” Another echoed, “If someone kicks my dogs, all gloves are off.” A third Redditor shared, “Touch me, we handle it like gentlemen. Touch my dog, and I’m probably going to prison.“
Others chose to comment on the man’s physical appearance, rather than his actual actions. Insults such as “His belly got there a full minute before he did,” and “It’s too hot to be wearing a sweater, sir,” were lobbed in his direction.
Many Redditors had revenge on their minds and called for people to bring their pets to the man’s property to use his lawn as a bathroom. Even those without pets got in on the concept, stating that they’d do their business on his lawn themselves! It seems that those plans may actually come to fruition, as one commenter claimed that the man ended up getting doxxed on local social media pages shortly after the incident.
Other internet users who claim to be in the know have assured the public that, thankfully, the dog in the clip was okay. Presumably, the man in the video has had many previous issues with people allowing their pets to use his property as a restroom. Still, that does not justify harming an innocent animal.
Hopefully, people will soon learn that it’s unacceptable to harm animals. In fact, hurting a sweet pet may be the single most efficient way to become the most universally hated person on the internet.
