A Pennsylvania mom defends letting her daughter help make family decisions, even when it comes to how they spend vacations. Angelique describes the video as, “Things I let my eleven-year-old daughter do that would send some of you mothers into a coma.” These ‘controversial’ takes have gotten over 151,000 views and over 20,000 likes on TikTok.

Angelique explains, “I think some of you enjoy making parenting harder than it has to be.” First up, she lets her daughter eat expensive meals if she’s also eating one. If she splurges on a $50 filet mignon, the eleven-year-old gets one too. She explains her reasoning: “She is a human being. My daughter. She is not a Groupon.” Angelique continues, saying her daughter gets a say in the vacation budget because it’s her vacation too. So she lets her vote on where they go and what the money gets spent on. She explains, “This isn’t a Corporate Retreat where only the adults get a vote.”

Additionally, Angelique lets her daughter decide whether she’s outgrown a toy and argues that she won’t keep her like a little kid. One of the more controversial points, according to comments, is that she lets her skip family outings. She emphasized that if her daughter doesn’t want to go somewhere and “there’s a responsible adult she can stay with,” then she doesn’t make her go. Angelique says the last thing on the list is, “I let her correct me in public.” If she’s wrong then her daughter is allowed to respectfully say something. She says, “Being older doesn’t automatically make me right.”

Many React To Pennsylvania Mom’s Video

Overall, most commenters agree with her list. Some parents even add their own ‘controversial’ takes. One says, “I let my kids cuss at home as long as it’s in context and not in anger.” One mom argues her kid gets good grades, stays out of trouble, and is nearly sixteen, so: “All this, plus I let her get a tattoo, plus a let her get a piercing, plus I let her do mostly anything she asks me.” Another adds, “My daughter is almost 10 and I always tell her if she doesn’t like someone she doesn’t have to be around them.”

Meanwhile, many are loving how she’s parenting. One commenter says, “‘I let her skip fa-‘ PLEASE BE MY MOTHER.” Another says, “My mom would legit go into a coma. Your daughter is so lucky.” However, a few people disagree with everything she says. Some feel attending family gatherings is the right thing to do and shouldn’t be skipped, while others protest a child having a say in vacations. One commenter says, “Ummm, unless she forking over money on our vacation, she ain’t picking. I am planning a family vacation; kid things will be included.”
