A Utah woman returned home after being away to discover her neighbor chopped down her “big beautiful tree.” She believes he did it “so he could see the view” of the mountains. Her video has caused a stir online, with over 236,000 views, over 5,000 likes, and over 1,000 comments.

Before she left on her trip, the Utah neighbor asked her if he “could trim a few branches on his side that were floating over” into his yard. She had no problem with that. The woman claims she told him she would be present when the landscaper came to trim the tree. However, when she returned, “the tree [was] gone.” The neighbor decided to remove the tree, allegedly going onto her property without permission.

The woman never meant for the story to get out, as she didn’t realize the TikTok video was public. She only intended for those close to her to see it. In the video, the Utah woman shows neighbors on the other side of her, with trees over 30-40 feet tall blocking her view. However, she states, “I didn’t cut them down for those who called me petty.” She also updates that the neighbors plan to replace the tree that was cut down.

Many Take New Jersey Woman’s Side

Many take her side, informing her, “You’re not petty. You have every right to be upset.” A second comment reads, “I would absolutely lose it. You were kind enough to agree to let him cut some branches as long as you were present and he completely disregarded that.” Several others tell her that tree law is real and advise her to sue the neighbor. One commenter speaks from experience: “So my neighbor did this too, and we took them to court and won $35,000.” Another adds, “Sue him immediately. This is a case of tree law & he will have to pay through the nose to replace that with one the same size. Do not let him get away with that.”

Meanwhile, others suggest she take a petty route and block his view. While some suggest planting more trees in the way, one person takes it up a notch: “Put a privacy wall where the tree was just to block his view, and that’s it.” Another agrees, “I would definitely plant an even bigger tree and add a few friends for the tree.”

The Utah woman hasn’t posted any plans to sue her neighbor. She expects him to replace the tree, though she has yet to say whether the neighbor followed through.
