Netflix released a The Harder They Fall trailer today on their Youtube page. The Netflix western film, which stars Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Zazi Beats, Lakeith Stanfield, and Regina King, will come out on October 22. The film is directed by Jaymes Samuel, who is making his feature directorial debut with this movie. In addition to directing, Samuel co-wrote and produced the film. Also joining the cast are Delroy Lindo, Damon Wayans Jr., Edi Gathegi, and RJ Cyler.
New Netflix Western is Based on a True Story
The Harder They Fall trailer forgoes vagueness and reveals the plot very clearly. The Netflix western will follow Nat Love, an African American cowboy, and former slave, as he collaborates with a gang to avenge his dead parents. Nat Love was a real person, and his exploits made him one of the most famous black heroes of the west.
The Harder They Fall trailer does not indicate how closely the film will follow the historical events of the film, though it is likely that artistic liberties will be taken. This will be the third film adaptation of Nat Love. Ernie Hudson portrayed Love in the 1996 film Cherokee Love. Additionally, Michael K Willaims played him in the 2013 film They Die By Dawn. Samual also directed and wrote They Die By Dawn, making this his second adaptation of Love’s iconic story.
The Harder They Fall Trailer Drops New Jay-Z Music
The Harder They Fall trailer features gun-slinging, a daring train escape, and a new collaborative track from Jay-Z and Kid Cudi. Jay-Z, who produced the film, announced in 2019 that he will be writing additional music for the film. Jay-Z collaborated with Samuel before, as Samual writing and directing the short film Jay-Z: Legacy. This Netflix western is Elba’s fifth Netflix film to come out this year. Boaz Yakin joined Samuel in co-writing the film.
