December 16th is the date we get our first Star Wars spin off movie and it’s name is Rogue One. Due to the title, fans initially thought it was about Rogue Squadron. However it is actually a prequel to ‘A New Hope’, and covers how the Rebels stole the Death Star Plans. The official synopsis is as follows.

“From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.”

Therefore, with Rogue One coming out soon it’s time for another trailer to keep us going until December.

This trailer gives us some more insight into the main character Jyn Erso while also giving others some spotlight. First of all, we now know that Jynn’s father played a major role in building the Death Star. Furthermore, the trailer shows us something the original trilogy often didn’t. And that is that the rebellion is heavily outgunned. Since this is before Luke joins the rebellion, there are no Jedi or smugglers to hog the limelight. Therefore it can focus on the ordinary heroes of the rebellion.

Furthermore, there are only two characters in this movie who definitely survive; Mon Mothma and Vader. So anyone can die. Speaking of Vader, we get our first good look at Vader in this trailer. And this is going to be old school Vader, no angst, just good old fashioned Dark side.
