A new tactical strategy game from the studio behind Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden has been announced.

The game is called Corruption 2029 and takes place in a dystopian America. The year is, you guessed it, 2029, and players are tasked with commanding a group of powerful, augmented soldiers. Your objective is critical: to discover the cause of America’s collapse by fighting against and infiltrating a nonhuman regime.

Since this is a war-torn United States, there will be a lot of combat. Therefore, Corruption 2029‘s core mechanics center around violence and stealth. A variety of weapons and skills give the player a myriad of paths to take for any given situation. Determining when to engage in open combat can be a crucial decision, that is, if you need to engage in combat at all. And exploring environments in search of vantage points and other advantages can tilt the odds in your favor.

It’s clear to see that there are a variety of choices to make during combat. These choices can shape the journey to uncover the truth about America’s demise. For example, do you go in guns blazing, or do you stay hidden until you find an advantage? Either way, Corruption 2029 promises a rewarding experience.

The Bearded Ladies is a small independent game studio based in Malmö, Sweden. Industry veterans, who had worked on games such as Hitman and Payday, founded the studio and broke into the tactical strategy genre with Mutant Year Zeo: Road to Eden in 2018.  After finishing up the final DLC for their breakthrough title, The Bearded Ladies immediately began work on Corruption 2029. Given the critical acclaim Mutant Year Zero received, Corruption 2029 could be something very special.

Corruption 2029 will release February 17, 2020, on PC. The game can be purchased on the Epic Games Store for $19.95. Therefore, if you find yourself in need of a game reminiscent of XCOM, this might be just the thing to scratch that itch.
