If Spider-man No Way Home didn’t convince you to head back to movie theaters, Paramount Pictures has a contender to offer up. Today, a new official trailer for Top Gun: Maverick was released, and boy, it’s an adrenaline rush.
The new Top Gun: Maverick trailer features all the elements that made us fall with the 1986 prequel: speed, fights, flights, and explosions with aerial stunts and maneuvers that’ll make your head spin. The new trailer stars newcomers Jean Louisa Kelly, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Danny Ramirez, and Miles Teller. Missing from the trailer is Val Kilmer’s Ice, who we don’t get to see apart from a photo of him in uniform (although he is mentioned by name). The new Top Gun trailer also shows new clips of Tom Cruise as Maverick, who’s back like he never left.
Top Gun: Maverick Is Finally Coming To Theaters
The new trailer for Maverick is accompanied by its brand new release date of May 27th, which has been three years in the making. The decision to continue pushing the release date back was caused by COVID-related production delays, which also impacted the release of the upcoming Mission Impossible. However, the release of today’s new trailer seems to have given fans second wind, with many still expressing their excitement and anticipation on Youtube. This is undoubtedly thanks to the quality and precision that Top Gun: Maverick has depicted so far, which looks almost identical to 1986 original in terms of style, action, on-screen chemistry, and cinematography.
Between the thrilling action, the correlations to the first film (Miles Teller’s Rooster looks just like his Dad!), and the effortless performance from Tom Cruise, today’s Maverick trailer is bound to spark up nostalgia with a side of excitement and anticipation. I think the world is ready. Are you?
Top Gun: Maverick will be released in theaters on May 27th, 2022. Check out the trailer, and be sure to subscribe to The Nerd Stash for more movie trailer news!
