Despite its rough launch and lack of content during the game’s first months, this MMO has come a long way and now provides players ample opportunities to level their character the way they want. Whether you’re new or a veteran, the game’s first expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth, brought a new level cap and many ways for players to streamline their leveling experience. To help you, we’ve prepared a guide for the best leveling method in New World to take you from level 1 to 60 in as little time as possible.
New World Leveling Guide: How to Reach Level 60 Fast
We all know that in any MMO, the true end-game starts when you reach the max level. While the journey is great and offers many things to do, players would love to reach the level cap to see everything the game has without any obstacles. For that, we’ll break down the best leveling methods during your journey in Aeternum.
Main Story Quests
Like any other MMO, the fastest way to level up is by following the Main Story Quests. Thanks to the Brimstone update, the experience has become more streamlined, less confusing, and more player-friendly, at least in the first levels. Regardless of where you start, follow the game’s recommended route and stick to the main story. If you’re going for this method, here are a few tips before you set on this journey:
- Finish the beach’s story quests before reaching the first settlement.
- Stick to two weapons while following the story.
- Gather every material you see while traveling.
- Follow the main roads for a speed increase.
- Gather lore pages when questing.

Faction Missions
If you’re a bit tired of following the game’s story and want something different while leveling in New World, we are also including a Faction Missions method in our guide. While these missions were nerfed in previous updates, they still provide some experience to help you level up. While it isn’t as fast as our first method, it isn’t bad either, and it’s a good way to change the pace of the game if you wish to do so. Here are the general tips for leveling through this method:
- Visit the Faction vendor in your closest town.
- Pick only the PvE missions.
- Stick to the missions that are near the Main Story Quest area.
- Avoid PvP missions until you’re max level.
Recommended Leveling Route
Now that we have a general idea of the two best methods to level, let’s dive into each level branch to see what you must do.
- Levels 1-6
- Follow the main story quests in your starting zone.
- Levels 6 to 10
- Complete all quests inside the settlement.
- Join a Faction.
- You can toggle PvP on for a 10% increased experience gain, but we don’t recommend it.
- Levels 10 to 20
- Continue with the Main Story Quests.
- Try to level up your harvesting skills to 30; you’ll need this for further quests.
- Since you’ll be traveling to faraway places, use your fast travel points to reach them faster.
- Levels 20 to 30
- Start the Staff of Azoth questline.
- Use the Amrine Excavation to level until 30.
- Levels 30 to 40
- Stick to doing Main Story Quests and Faction Missions in Brightwood and Weaver’s Fen.
- Levels 40 to 50
- Add Corrupted Portals to your Main Story Quest and Faction Mission loop. Do all sidequests in Restless Shores.
- Levels 50 to 60
- Head to Ebonscale Reach and finish the sidequests and the recommended loop of Faction and Main Story quests.
- For the last bit of experience, gather a group and head to Shattered Mountain for the quests.

That’s a wrap on our leveling guide for New World. With the mounts system, going from one place to the other is much faster now, which means you’ll reduce the time spent while leveling. Still, we recommend keeping this guide close to have a clear path. Also, we recommend watching this video by DukeSloth, who has a terrific guide for leveling before the game’s first expansion.
