One of the quests in New World that players have been struggling with is the Weakness of the Ego story quest. The difficult part about the quest is finding some of the materials needed to craft the Corruption Tincture. The two main materials that are difficult to find are the Rivercress Stem and the Petalcap. By the end of this guide, you will learn where to find Fronded Petalcaps and their main location in New World.
Petalcap Locations in New World
You can harvest Petalcap from Fronded Petalcap plants. You can find Fronded Petalcap near Windsward Town. The map above shows the Fronded Petalcap clusters around the town. While Petalcap can be found northeast of Cutlass Keys Town, they are mainly found along the northern river above Windsward. You may also use the New World interactive world map if you wish to explore more. Since this is very close to a major town, you will likely find other players around that are also farming Petalcap. You might need to move away from the town if you have a difficult time finding the plants. The plants do respawn every few minutes, so you can revisit different locations to see if the Fronded Petalcap has regrown.
Fronded Petalcaps are a light green plant with small green and yellow shoots growing out the middle. Sparkles will also appear around the plant, signaling that it is harvestable. Once you find the plant, you will need a sickle to gather the Petalcap. Luckily, you only need a harvesting skill level of 1 to harvest the plant. Hovering your cursor over the plant will show the “Fronded Petalcap” text appear, which will prompt you to begin harvesting. Fronded Petalcap also gives green pigment and mushroom fins. Outside of the Weakness of the Ego quest, you can also use Petalcap and Mushroom Fins in alchemy to create potions.
