Nintendo released a brand new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer earlier this morning, which has provided details on the upcoming title from Monolith Soft. Originally slated for September 2022, the new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer confirms new release date. The game will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch systems on July 29th, 2022, about two months earlier than expected.
New Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Trailer and Details
The latest entry in the long-running role-playing series, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was first announced back in February with a debut trailer and was originally slated to launch sometime in September 2022. The official Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date has since been changed to the much earlier date of July 29th, 2022, meaning fans will not have to wait long for this title to finally arrive on the Nintendo Switch.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 aims to connect the futures of the two previous mainline Xenoblade Chronicles games and invites players to embark on an epic adventure with “life” as the central theme. In the game, players will step into the roles of protagonists Noah and Mio as conflict brews between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Six additional characters hailing from these nations will join forces to learn the truth behind their conflict and set their sights on Swordsmarch, a land pierced by a giant sword.
“Why are Noah and his friends being pursued as ‘monsters’ by the forces of the two nations they hail from? Witness the introduction of the mighty Ouroboros forms, the oversized entities your party can become during battle in this epic continuation of the Xenoblade Chronicles series,” the official description reads.
The new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer also reveals some of the gameplay details and the background of the group’s journey in Aionios, a vast and sublime natural world. Players can battle with up to seven characters, controlling Noah’s party of six, including additional characters they meet during the adventure. Each character has a role in battle, allowing for diverse strategies.
Each character has their class and strengths, such as Noah being a Swordfighter specializing in close-range attacks and Mio being a Zephyr that draws enemy attention while evading their strikes. Players will be able to change these characters’ classes as their adventure progresses, creating a customized party.
The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer also showed that the game features a new Interlink system that divides the party into tag-team pairs – Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, and Eunie and Taion. Players can use the Interlink system if certain conditions are met, in which the characters will then combine into a giant robotic form called an Ouroboros, each with its powerful move sett.
Nintendo also announced that a Special Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be made available via the My Nintendo Store, including package artwork from Masatsugu Saito, a full-color 250-page+ hardcover art book, and a steel case.
