New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing criticism from Bronx Democrats over his administration’s spending priorities. Councilmember Oswald Feliz accused Mamdani of favoring a Park Avenue beautification project over comparable work in the Bronx. The criticism gained attention as other outer-borough officials raised concerns about neglected neighborhood needs.

Fox News reported the dispute and aired Feliz’s response.

🚨 BREAKING: Democrats across New York City are suddenly accusing communist Mayor Mamdani of TURNING HIS BACK on minorities and the needs of outer neighborhoods

And there it is.

This is how socialism ALWAYS plays out!

Feliz said Mamdani gave his community “crumbs” while advancing the Park Avenue project. He said Bronx residents deserved more than “rhetoric and words” from City Hall.

Mamdani’s team did not respond directly to Fox News. Earlier, Mamdani said, “We are looking at every different avenue that we have to invest in the Bronx.”

He also said the city was “investing in the housing here in the Bronx” and “investing in youth programming.”

Fox News also reported that Councilmember Eric Dinowitz told Politico that basic outer-borough needs were being ignored. Installing stop signs in local communities was among the unmet requests.

The report prompted criticism over whether City Hall was favoring Manhattan while outer-borough communities awaited basic investments.

Much of the response focused on Mamdani’s political promises and the communities expected to benefit from them. “Socialism always sells the poor a dream… then spends the money on the rich while the poor get nothing,” one X user wrote.

Another response described the dispute as “all talk, total neglect, and zero results.”

Other users moved away from ideology and focused on governing responsibilities. “City maintenance and having all boroughs be treated fairly should not be partisan,” one response stated.

A separate user wrote, “Campaign slogans are easy. Fixing potholes, improving services, and delivering results? That’s where the real work begins.”

The immediate question is whether City Hall will expand Bronx investments or address officials’ basic-service requests. Mamdani has highlighted housing and youth programs, but the dispute remains unresolved.
