A video of a homeless man in New York is blowing up on TikTok, with over 100K Likes and hundreds of comments. It started off seemingly aggressive, only for the New Yorker to be completely caught off guard when he was instead given a generous gift.

@9figureroofer

What could’ve been a street fight turns into my absolute favorite interaction and video in the six months I’ve been doing this. You visibly watch the icy exterior melt. Kindness goes a long way. his Venmo is at the end and his Cash app is Its $seven232798 everything helps

TikTok user 9figureroofer, Bob, shared the video of his good deed. When he tried to stop a man riding past on his bicycle, the interaction started off rather hostile. When he went to stop him, the bicyclist replied back, “Shut up” and angrily rode away. But Bob persisted and managed to get the New Yorker’s attention, telling the man, “I promise you’re not being disrespected.”

Bob tries to explain to his audience that people are sometimes on edge because New Yorkers are notorious for “yelling at people on bikes.” Bob tells the man, “There’s a fine today for riding the bike.” He then hands the cyclist a $100 bill. His face instantly lights up when he sees the money. And it means even more to him, as he admits, “I’m homeless, guys.”

To this, Bob says, “If you’re homeless, then it’s more” and hands him more money. The man can’t believe it and asks, “You’re serious?” Then, completely stunned, he says, “God bless you guys!” as Bob hands him several $100 bills. He said he’s been stressing out about his situation and what he can do to change things. This, of course, could completely change that!

As the New Yorker laughs with joy, Bob tells him, “Here’s something to calm him down,” and hands him even more money. Bob quips, “I’m glad that you stopped and I’m glad we didn’t get in a fistfight.” And it’s a good thing he didn’t!

The Internet had a hard time holding their tears back

People on TikTok did their part by showing immense support for Bob and Steve. They really felt for Steve’s predicament and wished him well. Among the top comments, one tugged at the heartstrings: “That’s someone’s baby. Someone’s friend. The same boy that watched cartoons and played with toys. I wish we could do more to end homelessness.”

Another top comment a TikTok viewer wrote, “Hopefully that guy learns to be kinder from the get go.” This started a thread, with most being sympathetic to Steve’s initial reaction. The understanding is that in New York, people on bikes get yelled at a lot. As one commenter pointed out, “He’s not wrong for already having a wall up being prepared for that.”

Since sharing this sweet interaction, Bob has launched a GoFundMe to assist the homeless man, Steve. Bob continues to reach out to those in need and help them when he can make a difference in their lives. A top commenter put it succinctly: “You never know what someone is going through.”
