A man in New York found a lost iPhone at a Central Park bench. Turning into a Good Samaritan, he decided to give it back to its owner, a woman who later arrived. To his shock, the woman acted in a way many called ungrateful, telling him she would have preferred it if the phone had been left on the bench all along.
The Good Samaritan-almost-turned-villain was C-Lo. He is an influencer who posts a variety of content online, including food and product reviews, sketches, and viral trends. The clip attached above quickly went viral, garnering 1.7 million views, 90,000 likes, and more than 1,800 comments in a day.
The New York man began recording himself at Central Park. He had just come across an iPhone that had been left behind by a woman who had binoculars. C-Lo proceeded to contact a friend of hers, who thankfully picked up.
Surprised, the friend asked C-Lo to hold on to the phone and asked for his phone number, which he provided. Then, she revealed that the iPhone’s owner had a “tendency to lose things.” Laughing, the friend thanked him for picking up the phone and said that she was going to try to contact the owner so he could return it.
“Thank you so much, I appreciate it. You’re a great citizen. Thank you, have a good one,” the friend said.
Unbeknownst to C-Lo, that would be the most amount of gratitude he would receive that day.
C-Lo ended up waiting in the area for about 55 minutes, he said. The owner was nowhere to be found. Eventually, he spotted a woman whom he correctly guessed was the iPhone’s owner and decided to approach her and tell her he had the phone.
“I wish you would have just left it. I came right back,” the owner said. Then, after she got her phone back, she added, “Thank you so much,” leaving C-Lo speechless.
Reactions
The clip sparked multiple responses, mostly from viewers who called her ungrateful. One wrote, “Her friend is gonna be so embarrassed by how she reacted.” Another one commented, “I hope she’ll lose it again.”
Others, meanwhile, were a bit more understanding. One wrote, “You should have also stayed in the same spot in case she came back.” Another one added, “Maybe she realized you were recording her for content.”
In the end, C-Lo got a viral clip, and the woman got her phone back, which one might argue is a win-win situation.
