Instacart has been getting a lot of hate recently online. TikTokers frequently share their experiences when groceries and food they paid for never arrive. They discuss how their shoppers substitute with items they don’t want. In a recent video, a New York woman saw an Instacart shopper being lazy on the job. Now, she said she knows why people who use Instacart are fed up.
Gia (@gialove224), who works at a New York Family Dollar store, saw an Instacart shopper browsing her store recently. She said she understands why “people get mad” at Instacart and DoorDash shoppers after what she just witnessed. An Instacart shopper was in her store and asked Gia if he could help her. His eyesight wasn’t the best, and he asked her, “Did I get everything?”
Gia took a look at all the grocery items and told the shopper that the list had bleach on it, but he didn’t grab any. The shopper tried to tell Gia, “Oh yeah, you don’t have none.” Gia tells her audience, “I know we got some because we stocked it.” She asked the man if he wanted her to go look and find it herself. Clearly rushing and trying to get out of the store, the shopper told her she was fine and that he was just going to pay and leave.
Gia was astounded that he wouldn’t just let her go and check, but she didn’t say anything else. After the man left, something hilarious happened a few hours later. An individual came into her store looking for bleach. They bought the same brand that the Instacart shopper was supposed to pick up and didn’t. Gia is sure that the individual was the same person who didn’t get their correct order. She looks at her audience and says, “We indeed had the bleach, and I tried to help. So, there ya go.”
The video immediately sparked reactions from those who have experienced the same thing and those with opinions on these services. One commenter suggested, “If y’all give them a bad rating they won’t be able to do this anymore.” Another commenter stated, “Literally!! Like Walmart was out of milk mid day on a Friday?” One commenter replied to this, “I’ve never in my life seen a Walmart completely out of milk.”
One commenter summed up perfectly what happened here: “’No, y’all didn’t have it’ = ‘I didn’t look and don’t want to.’” Another complained, “Last time I had a male shopper he put my deli lunch meat and my raw pork chops in the same bag.” Commenters continue to share their stories on Gia’s video, sparking many conversations about Instacart services.
