It is time to restart the search. The next Jurassic World movie, set for a 2025 release, has lost its director as talks with David Leitch fall through. Universal still has David Koepp, who wrote the Steven Spielberg classic, to pen the film.
Not much is known about the film. Similar to how the original trilogy and Chris Pratt trilogy were different, this will give a refreshing spin that further grows the world. Actors from both trilogies are not expected to return.
Behind David Leitch Exiting Jurassic World
Deadline has reported that after negotiating, Universal and David Leitch decided that it would not work out for him to helm the next Jurassic World. The split was “amicable,” but it had to happen as the studio and the action comedy director had “different visions.”
For now, the release date of July 2, 2025 will stick. If nothing changes, we will have the Man of Steel versus dinosaurs as James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on July 11. The week could give the next installment of the Jurassic Park franchise a leg up, but depending on how the revamped DCU performs, the superhero could soar above his competition.
Steven Spielberg will executive produce with producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley.
Although David Leitch will not be the director of the next Jurassic World, he will continue his current rate of releasing action-packed comedies. His last film was 2022’s Bullet Train, which starred Brad Pitt, Michael Shannon, Brian Tyree Henry, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and more. His next film, The Fall Guy, will be released on May 3. The upcoming blockbuster stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
There have been six Jurassic Park movies. The franchise has grossed $6 billion worldwide. The last installment, 2022’s Dominion, grossed $1 billion. The second and third installments of the original trilogy are the only films not to reach the billion milestone.
