A small step has been taken for one of 2025’s most anticipated movies. James Gunn has posted a picture with the Superman: Legacy cast after completing the table read, which features Nicholas Hoult owning his shaved head look to play Lex Luthor (seen below).
In the picture, we see the director with the roster of supporting and leading cast members for Superman: Legacy. The picture features David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Milly Alcock (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/Green Lantern), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Hoult (Lex Luthor), and Terence Rosemore (Otis).

James Gunn wrote on Instagram about the “wonderful day” it was to complete the Superman: Legacy table read with the cast. They came “all together for the first time” as they prepare to go into production in March to meet the July 2025 release date.
Some of the actors chimed in with their comments. Fillion wrote, “It feels like this was only yesterday.” De Faria wrote a short and sweet comment with “Magical day ❤.”
For Nicholas Hoult, rocking a shaved head, this is not the first time he has had to part ways with his hair for a role. One of his biggest roles to launch his career was for Mad Max: Fury Road, in which he was pasty white without a hair on his head.
We have been peppered with updates about the highly anticipated film. While the DCU will get its debut with Creature Commandos, an animated series set to release on Max later this year, its theatrical beginning starts with the Man of Steel movie. Unlike previous films, this will not be an origin story for the leading character. He will already be in a breathing world with a slew of established villains and heroes, with some getting their feet wet with origin stories.
Superman: Legacy will be released on July 11, 2025.
