However, before she tied the knot with the singer, she was part of one of the most famous celebrities couples of all time when she married actor Tom Cruise. Kidman and Cruise were married for ten years and share two adopted children together, Connor and Isabella. Now, the actress is opening up about a very memorable time in their marriage. She’s even making rare comments about her ex-husband.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nicole Kidman detailed the two years she spent working on the film Eyes Wide Shut. Of course, Tom Cruise was famously her co-star in the movie. The film was directed by Stanley Kubrick, whom Kidman believed took inspiration from her marriage to the action star for the film.

“I suppose he was mining it,” Kidman admitted. “There were ideas he was interested in. He’d ask a lot of questions. But he had a strong sense of the story he was telling. I do remember him saying, ‘Triangles are hard. You have to tread carefully when it’s a triangle.’ One person could feel ganged up on. But he was aware of that and knew how to manage us,” she added.
It’s rare for Kidman to make any comments about her time with Cruise. The pair split in 2001. However, she has admitted that the narrative of Eyes Wide Shut was relatable to her real-life love life with Cruise at the time, per E! Online.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Nicole Kidman has opened up about filming the movie with Tom Cruise. She previously told the New York Times that she and the actor were “happily married” through the two years they spent working on the film. However, she admitted that she doesn’t want to look back and dissect their marriage and divorce now.
“We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to,” Kidman confessed.
“We shot that for two years. We had two kids and were living in a trailer on the lot primarily, making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes. We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about our lives and enjoying our lives on set,” she stated.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise may be a forgotten celebrity couple of the past. However, their work on Eyes Wide Shut will live on forever.
