Ever since Night Dive Studios announced they would be remaking “Turok” and “Turok 2: Seeds of Evil” for PC, the community has been patiently waiting for a release date. As of yet, the developer has still not offered when the games might be ready. However, they have given hungry fans a few more images to tide them over.
In a Facebook post, Night Dive teased their fans a little, saying, “It’s come to our attention that some of you want updates on Turok! Should we post some screen shots? Announce the release date? Unveil the trailer? Is it finally time to hunt some Dinosaurs?” Despite the tease, the project is still quite early, as the developer only announced a few months ago that they would be working on the “Turok” games. They did post three screenshots to their Facebook shortly after.
The screenshots themselves certainly hold promise, since they have drastically improved the quality of the game. Originally released for the Nintendo 64 console in 1997, “Turok” was revolutionary for its time. It quickly became one of the most popular games for the console, which was largely due to the graphics that stood above many other games of that era. It’s no surprise that Night Dive wants to reboot this popular series. Now the question becomes – can they pull this off?
Based on what we have seen thus far (which isn’t too much), it seems as if the developer is heading in the right direction. In addition to this project, Night Dive has headed a few other remasters in its day, such as “System Shock 2” and “Darklands.” If anyone could make a great remaster for “Turok,” this developer certainly can. And hopefully, there will be a release date announced sometime in the near future.
