When fishing is combined with the game’s stunning graphics, it gives the player a completely unique fishing experience. On top of that, it feels much better than many games with fishing mechanics. Fortunately, we can fish early in your adventure, but first, we need to know how to get the recipe for the Fishing Rod and how to craft it in Nightingale.

How To Get Fishing Rod in Nightingale

You can get the Simple Fishing Rod from Essence Trader in Nightingale. This can be done immediately after you finish Puck’s tutorial and arrive at the biome of your choice. After completing a few quests, Puck will tell you about the Essence Traders, and from that point on you can look at your map and see where the Essence Trader is located. On your way to the Essence Trader, try to collect as much Essence Dust as possible.

You can spend Essence Dust at the Essence Trader and while you’re there, we recommend buying not only Simple Fishing Rod but also all the recipes you can. To accumulate Essence Dust, open your inventory right-click on any item you don’t need, and select “Extract“. This will decompose the item and provide you with Essence Dust. You can buy the Simple Fishing Rod recipe for 30 Essence Dust. You will also need a Simple Tanning Station for crafting a Fishing Rod.

How To Craft Fishing Rod in Nightingale

1. Return to your base and craft a Simple Tanning Station. For this, you need x6 Sticks and x10 Plant Fibre.
2. Then craft x2 Animal Fibre in Simple Tanning Station, for which you will need x2 Meat.
3. Then open Simple Workbench and find Simple Fishing Rod. For the Fishing Rod, you need x1 Wood Bundle, x2 Animal Fibre, and x1 Bone.
4. Once you provide the necessary materials to the workbench, you can craft your Simple Fishing Rod in Nightingale.

How Fishing Mini Game Works in Nightingale

The fishing mini-game might seem a bit strange and different at first in Nightingale, but once you get used to it, you’ll realize that it’s beautiful. You don’t need to put any bait or anything else on your fishing rod, you can use it directly after you craft it. Once you have your Fishing Rod in your hand, you can cast it by holding “Left Click“. Then when the fish hits, the level and name of the fish will appear.

Then “Left Click” again to start the reel in the fish. After the fish is hooked, the Tension Bar will appear at the bottom. You should pay close attention to this Tension and Stamina Bar. Stop reeling as you run out of Stamina and follow the fish with your cursor to keep the Tension low. After a few tries, you will fully grasp the idea and be able to catch fish easily.

How To Cook Fish in Nightingale

You will not be able to cook the fish immediately after catching it, for this you need to get a Grilled Fish recipe. This can be found at the Essence Trader in Astrolabe Realms. To get the Astrolabe Card, you need to follow the main quests for a while. After completing the mission where you kill the boss at the Astrolabe Site of Power, you will have access to this card and you can go there.

Here is a simple breakdown for you to get the Grilled Fish recipe in Nightingale:

1. Follow the main missions to the Astrolabe Site of Power.
2. Then you can access the Astrolabe Card, one of the Major Cards.
3. To go to the Astrolabe Realms, place a biome card (Desert, Forest, Swamp) and then place the Astrolabe Card in the portal.
4. Once there, find the Essence Trader on the map and buy the Grilled Fish recipe so you can cook fish.
