Just in time for Halloween to be over, Nintendo and LEGO have announced a series of new sets based on Luigi’s Mansion, slated for a January 1, 2022 release. It might sound odd to release a series of LEGO sets based on ghost hunting on New Year’s Day, but if you think about it, New Year’s Day is a pretty spooky time, too. The vast, unknown expanse of a new year in front of you, and the knowledge that your resolutions are destined to be unfulfilled? Truly, there is no ghost spookier than the ghost of our potential future self that we did not have the resolve to make real. But let’s not think about that. Instead, let’s take a look at some LEGO sets!

Three new sets have been announced: Luigi’s Mansion Lab and Poltergust Expansion Set, Luigi’s Mansion Entryway Expansion Set, and Luigi’s Mansion Haunt-and-Seek Expansion Set. Like the previous Nintendo and LEGO collabs, these news sets each have their own interactive features and adorable characters.

Luigi's Mansion LEGO set

The Luigi’s Mansion Lab and Poltergust Expansion set includes the Poltergust attachment for your Luigi figure. Pressing a button on the device will result in Luigi catching a Gold Ghost, which can then be exchanged for a coin in the lab. It will run you $24.99, if you live in the US.

Luigi's Mansion LEGO Set

The Luigi’s Mansion Entryway Expansion Set is a little pricier at $39.99, and features, well, the entryway to the mansion. This time Luigi will face off against Bogmire and Boo, although he will have the adorable Polterpup by his side. You can also search for Polterpup’s golden bone, and you will if you’re not a monster.

Luigi's Mansion LEGO Set

Finally, the Luigi’s Mansion Haunt-and-Seek Expansion Set is the largest and most expensive of the three. It will run you $79.99, but you’ll get to build spinning hallways, search for hidden gems, and battle King Boo. Or not, if you don’t want to. It’s a LEGO set, so you can pretty much do what you want!

Luigi’s Mansion superfans will be able to connect all three sets together, while others will probably dig through their miscellaneous LEGO sets and attach a spaceship or part of Hogwarts. Whatever you do, keep in mind that Luigi is not included: if you want to play with something other than your imagination, you’ll have to buy the Starter Course.
