Nomadland is an interesting new movie that last lost Michael Wolf Snyder. Some may have seen his name in passing. And he’s not one of the faces in front of the camera. He was the one that brought the sounds of the show to life. The man, according to the cast, had a magic touch for truly capturing sound.

Nomadland Sound Mixer Michael Wolf Snyder Takes His Own Life

According to his father, the sound mixer’s death is ruled suicide. Discovered on March 1, the man’s father released the following statement: “Michael took his own life sometime in the last week and wasn’t discovered until I went to check on him Monday after he had dropped out of contact for several days.”

His father had also shared the Nomadland staffer had fought with severe depression. His father believes the last year is a contributing factor. David, Snyder’s father, said his son was being as responsible as possible the last year. He was excited about upcoming projects. And he was loving every minute of work on Nomadland. But the isolation may have been too much to handle. He isn’t likely to have seen the Golden Globes, according to his father.

While Nomadland has lost one of its own, the show will have to continue. And it is likely the actors and production alike will dedicate future work to Snyder’s memory. Frances McDormand, one of the show’s stars, shared their sentiments: “Wolf recorded our heart beats. Our every breath. For me, he is ‘Nomadland.'” Stream it now on Hulu.

Depression is a serious issue that can affect anyone. If you or someone you know is suffering, contact someone at the Nation Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Have you seen Nomadland? What do you think of the series? Will anyone be able to fill the shoes left behind by Snyder? Let me know in the comments.
