A mother in North Carolina has gone viral after she shamed a driver trying to fly through a school bus dropping off children.
Posted by TikTok user Inked_mom03, the two videos—one an edit spliced with music of AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ and Bee Gees ‘Stayin’ Alive’ and the other without music—garnered 2.6+ million views on TikTok collectively.
In her video, she is heard shouting “Hey” to an oncoming driver. Meanwhile, OP’s husband stands at the center line, arm raised as if he’s going to chuck something. It turns out he had nothing in his hands and it was just a ruse to get the driver to stop.
He then moves out of the way and Inked_mom03 lets the driver have it. “Do you see the big flashing sign?” She then shames the driver, telling him he’s on camera and to “smile and wave to the camera.” Before walking away, Inked_mom03 tells the driver to have a “wonderful [expletive] day.”
After a few moments, the school bus drives away. Inked_mom03 is heard shouting to the driver, “Now you can go.”
In the caption of her TikTok video, Inked_mom03 wrote that she had been called “crazy and unhinged” for doing what she did. However, she defended her actions, stating, “This momma will gladly be crazy and unhinged when it comes to her kids.”
Viewers Online Rally Behind the TikToker’s Reaction
Commenters flocking to Inked_mom03’s TikTok video were overwhelmingly in favor of her, some of whom even admitting they judged her too harshly too soon and changed their mind after seeing the video.
“So really thought you was in the wrong UNTIL I see it was a school bus good job,” TIkTok user Pettyafterhours wrote. Inked_mom03 responded, thanking them and noted that in her original video the music drowned out what she was saying.
One viewer, TikTok user Balance Naturals, was baffled that the driver would do this while it was dark. “I can’t believe so many people play with children’s lives like this 🤦♀️🤦♀️.”
Others brought up the use of cameras. Speaking on school buses, TikTok use MG wrote, “Ours around here had camera systems installed that send tickets straight to the DMV for running the buses. Exactly like it works at red lights.”
A TikTok user claiming to be a bus driver also chimed in, wishing that they “had more moms like you!!!!”
Many more viewers have weighed in, with several expressing disgust over drivers seemingly disregarding the safety of children. For some, the viral North Carolina confrontation highlights a much bigger problem, with calls for better enforcement and harsher penalties for motorists who illegally pass stopped school buses. After all, when children’s safety is on the line, ignoring those flashing warning lights could have devastating consequences.
