A North Carolina school superintendent is drawing backlash online after defending an LGBTQ+-themed book available in an elementary school library, one that critics say includes imagery they consider inappropriate for young students.

During a recent meeting, the superintendent was pressed by an official over the types of materials accessible to children. The official pointed to a specific book he claimed shows two men kissing while dressed in BDSM-style attire, questioning whether that kind of content belongs in an elementary setting. “You’ve got guys in kink outfits,” he said, challenging the superintendent’s stance as the exchange grew more tense.

🚨WHAT THE HELL?!!!!!!

A North Carolina SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT says he sees, "…NOTHING WRONG" with Kindergarteners reading a book depicting MEN IN BDSM LEATHER OUTFITS MAKING OUT.

"That's certainly something a child would see in their community…"

In response, the superintendent stated that he was not certain what he was being shown or referred to. The official pushed back, saying, “But you’re okay with kindergartners looking at,” and continued pressing the issue. He added, “Is this your goal? Is this what you want kindergartners through fourth grade… I mean is this the goal? Is this the curriculum?”

The superintendent then defended the content, saying he did not see an issue with what was being shown in the book. “I don’t understand what the challenge is. I see a pride flag.” He then added, “I see community. I see two couples who appear to be in a loving relationship. They’re not breaking any laws. They’re not hurting anyone,” he argued. He added that it was “certainly” something a child might encounter in their community. Despite his explanation, many viewers remained outraged and continued to criticize the situation.

The superintendent’s response did not satisfy the official. The official then responded sharply, saying, “Children are being subjected to this filth. If this is a hell you wanna die on, the democrats wanna die on, indoctrinating young children, I wish you the very best. You’re on the wrong side of history.” The exchange quickly circulated online and became highly controversial, with viewers strongly divided over the discussion and the broader issue of what material is appropriate for elementary school students.

Wide Outrage After North Carolina Superintendent’s Response

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage over the remarks made by the superintendent in North Carolina, particularly his defense of the book’s inclusion in elementary school libraries. Some called for consequences, with one person writing, “He needs to be immediately removed from his position. A truly vicious and terrifying person who is teaching our innocent children mind-toxic poisoning. [Expletive]!” Others criticized the broader discussion around the issue, with another commenter saying, “It’s almost comical how ignorant these educators are!”

More viewers continued to express outrage over the superintendent’s remarks and the discussion around the book’s content in elementary schools. “This same argument used by this school superintendent could also be applied to the most explicit possible images that show a ‘couple that appears to be in a loving relationship’,” one person wrote. Another commenter added, “This person does not belong in polite society. Much less anywhere near children! What community does he live in??? Remove him!”

The video of the confrontation between the official and the school superintendent sparked strong online reactions, as many viewers criticized his comments and his defense of the book being discussed.
