With the games industry continues in its release struggle, indie developers are thriving. Amidst the chaos in triple-A game development, indie game development has always adapted to extraneous circumstances. Despite these hurdles to return to normalcy, indie games have been able to continue their solid and steady work. For many, this comes in the form of development time and in this case, the time has paid off. Starting to tease some images last August, Nunchaku Games is ready to show more. Released today on YouTube, is the first teaser trailer for Moon Samurai showcasing elegant combat and fluid traversal.
What Does the Moon Samurai Trailer Show?
With the full trailer, the focus on pixel art in Nunchaku Games artistry is clearer than ever. The game is heavily inspired by Double Dragon and Battletoads, emulating the early best-em-ups game era. With how characters, the animation is tight for the close-quarters combat system Moon Samurai will have. The video’s description does shed some more light on the plot and game inspirations. In this cyberpunk-inspired world, you play a samurai named Buddy who parkours and fights his way through this cyberpunk world.
The trailer is pretty brief so the cuts between scenes keep the teaser fresh and leaves fans wanting so much more. Despite only teasing a little bit of content in this trailer there’s certainly more to look forward to. Releasing on PC and Mac alongside Nintendo Switch is great for those who want to take the action on the go. While the news may be brief, it’s relieving to finally see it all in motion. With Nunchaku Games continuing to work on the project, Moon Samurai is certainly an interesting upcoming indie title.
