Lil Nas X has gathered help around the country and universe to raid Area 51 in his newest animated remix for Old Town Road. Pssh, who said millennials don’t spend their time wisely?
The animated video comes inspired by the Storm Area 51 event on Facebook that has taken over memes this past month. The premise is to have waves of people just run and break into a heavily guarded military base. So far, 1.5 million people have signed up to forfeit their lives.
The video has many appearances from other artists and celebrities to add to the weirdness. These cameos range from Tyler The Creator to a Naruto styled-running Keanu Reeves. The supporting vocals for the remix are Billy Ray Cyrus, Young Thug and Mason Ramsey a.k.a the Wal-Mart yodeling kid.
There are other nerdy easter eggs thrown in throughout the video as well. The more prevalent references are the Infinity Gauntlet, a pigeon Thanos (yes, you read that right) and much more. Watch the video below and see what else you can find.
For the Culture, For the Lol’s
The Area 51 event and meme has gained traction these past few weeks. In fact, it has gotten so big that the military has responded with a not so veiled threat. Airforce spokeswoman Laura McAndrews said some very choice words in a recent Washington Post interview.
“[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces.” McAndrews went on to say, “The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”
Area 51 has been denied to exist for many years until it was finally acknowledged back in 2013. The event is scheduled to take place on Sept.20th and will also be live-streamed for those that have a tough time washing out red stains.
Apparently, besides being the biggest threat to consumerism, a group that still live with their parents are turning out be the biggest threat to the U.S military.
Old Town Road has been number one on Billboard for 15 weeks, making it the third-longest run of any song in history.
