Officers of the Orange County police department are getting heavy lashing from fans online after a disgraceful attempt at a car chase. What was supposed to be an easy catch of a perpetrator turned into the biggest fumble ever.

The chase went down on Sunday on the street next to Yorba Middle School on E. Collins Ave., Orange County, California. A clip recorded from the point of view of a witness showed the car chase happening in the opposite direction. About eight cop cars were seen steadily chasing after a black Land Rover Sport vehicle when things took an interesting turn. The police vehicle performed a pit maneuver, gently ramming into the luxury SUV to change its direction. Unfortunately, the driver didn’t lose control. He instead used the 180-degree turn to his advantage. Although the perp was close to escaping, he was immediately blocked by another cop car. However, he showed no signs of giving up, immediately backing up and reversing all the way.

The Land Rover pressed on, backing into not one but two police cars in the process. The suspect almost hit an officer standing next to one of the vehicles, but the cop’s reflexes kicked in, and he jumped out of the way.

The affected cop instantly pulled his weapon and directed it at the suspect. However, before he could fire it, the Land Rover sped off. As the perpetrator gained a major headstart, the squad of police cops was seen slowly backing up and reversing so they could catch up. The pathetic car chase has since gone viral online, and fans can’t believe their eyes. Many questioned how a group of trained police officers could allow a suspect to get away so easily.

“I counted 6 police SUV and couldn’t block him in 😂😂😂. Maybe less on the donut time and more on quality training,” one fan slammed.

“Morons, a child could have pinned that car in,” another harsh comment read.

“That’s just awful police work right there as usual,” a third user wrote, while another added, “Why did they purposely let them go? They can’t possibly be that bad at their jobs.”

“Cops have got to be some of the worst drivers, I swear. They just watched him spin away and dip out 😂,” another comment read.

Despite the godawful chase, KTLA 5 reports that the multi-city chase finally came to a halt on the 91 Freeway east of Imperial Highway. Authorities were in pursuit of a commercial burglary suspect, identified as Jonathan McLaurin, who stole a high-end SUV. The 28-year-old sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital. McLaurin will be booked into Orange County Jail after receiving medical treatment.
