Internet users expressed outrage after a video circulated showing individuals described as homeless in San Francisco, California, allegedly selling groceries obtained from a food bank for $1 per item.

In the video, a man filmed several homeless people standing on a sidewalk with food items displayed in front of them. He alleged that the groceries had been provided by a food bank and were later being resold. “They sell them over here after our food banks give it to them,” he said.

DISGUSTING.

San Francisco food banks hand out FREE taxpayer-funded groceries to the homeless… and they immediately dump it on the sidewalk to SELL for $1 each.

The man then asked one of the individuals how much the groceries were being sold for. The person responded that each item cost $1. He then approached another individual, who was also selling items for the same price. The man continued walking along the sidewalk, filming several people who were allegedly doing the same thing. Some passersby were also seen purchasing the groceries on display.

As the video circulated online, one account that shared it described the situation as “disgusting.” The post also stated, “San Francisco food banks hand out FREE taxpayer-funded groceries to the homeless… and they immediately dump it on the sidewalk to SELL for $1 each. While working families get crushed by taxes and inflation, this is what ‘compassion’ looks like in a failing blue hellhole.” The replies reflected the account holder’s opinion and characterization of the situation.

Viewers Outraged Over Video of California Homeless Individuals

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage over the video of the homeless individuals in California. They argued that it was inappropriate to resell groceries that had been received from food banks. “That would really piss me off as a taxpayer!,” one person wrote. Another person said, “stop giving to these food banks. Only people with Cadillacs and Range Rovers get the food.”

Others speculated about the homeless people’s race as one person said, “They all appear Asian too & obviously not born here. What the hell, giving tax dollars away like that while Americans fight to keep their lights on & a roof over them. Just disgusting.” Another person made a serious claim as they wrote, “Then they buy drugs after. Why do Democrats have such a problem with accountability?”

The video sparked discussion online about whether food distributed by food banks should be resold for cash. It also led to broader conversations about how food assistance programs are used, the role of taxpayer funding in supporting such programs, and whether additional oversight is needed to address concerns about misuse.
