It’s not the first time

People have been coming up with different reasons to oppose Trump, and the reasons never seem to end. Now, many people have found a new reason to be upset about. Trump has invited pastors from across the country to visit him in the Oval Office in Washington DC and pray. This has caused significant outrage online.

In a video circulating online, Trump could be seen sitting in the Oval Office, surrounded by pastors. Those closest to him even had put their hands on his shoulders and arms. During this, one of the pastors was saying the prayer.

I pray for your grace and protection over him. I pray for your grace and protection over our troops and all of our men and women serving in our armed forces. And, father, we just pray you’ll continue to give our president the strength that he needs to lead our great nation as we come back to one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We pray your heavenly blessing upon him. In Jesus name.

The pastor prayed, and everyone said Amen at the end.

This wasn’t the first time Trump invited pastors to Washington DC. He did this last year as many pastors visited him at the Oval Office and prayed over him. “Honored to lead a prayer today for our great President [Donald Trump]!” First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffries said back then, according to The Presidential Prayer Team.

People Reacting to Trump Inviting Pastors to the White House

After the video of Trump and the pastors praying inside the Oval Office started circulating, people expressed their outrage. Many believed that there should be no place for religion when it comes to leadership. “What am I watching?!?!?!? State and Religion are separate!!!!” one person wrote. Another person said, “What in the world of exorcisms is going on here? This is creeping me out. It looks straight out of a movie like ‘Conjuring’ or ‘The Exorcist’.” Someone else commented on how this moment of prayer was filmed and posted. “Is this a photo op or a real moment of prayer?” they asked. Another person responded and said that it was the former.

More people showed their dissatisfaction as one person wrote, “Of a corrupt government there should be a separation of church and state seems pretty corrupt.” Not everyone, though, was against prayer taking place in the Oval Office, as another person said, “Thank you, Jesus, for President Trump! Give him your wisdom to lead and strengthen him and protect him and the US Military.”

Someone else wrote, “Blessings of your President. The responsibility on him is a massive one. Evil lurks in the shadows but Jesus will prevail.” People will definitely disagree on whether what happened was right.
