Outrage as Michigan Senator Slotkin Sponsors Bill to Bar Presidents from Sending Troops to Polls: ‘Typical Democrat. Cheat in an election, then blame the other side’

U.S. politics is heating up ahead of the election

Senator Slotkin recently introduced a bill that would ban the U.S. President from sending any kind of military personnel or federal agents to polling sites during the upcoming elections. The bill introduced by the Michigan senator also drew criticism on social media, with some users accusing the Democratic Party of attempting to influence the electoral process.

President Trump has been saying the quiet part out loud: he wants to undermine our elections any way he can, and he refuses to rule out sending uniformed military to the polls or to collect ballots and voting machines.

According to Slotkin, the goal of the legislation is to prevent U.S. President Donald Trump from using officers to interfere in the elections. The bill has also been backed by other Senators from the party, including Tammy Baldwin, Alex Padilla, and Ruben Gallego.

The measure is understood as direct opposition to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which the President wants the Senate to pass. The act would require voters to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections, such as a passport, birth certificate, or similar documents

Since it was unveiled, Trump’s SAVE Act has faced opposition from Democrats, who argue that it will make it harder for eligible citizens to vote, especially in cases where they legally changed their names.

Voters Criticize Michigan’s Elissa Slotkin

On X, Slotkin was heavily criticized by voters who disagreed with her bill. One user wrote, “You have a strange sense of undermining elections. Secure elections with in-person voting with ID are NOT undermining them. Exactly the opposite.” Another person argued that “having military and ICE at the polling stations is exactly what we need. This is the very best way to protect the US citizens as they go to vote.”

Comments accusing the Democratic Party of cheating in previous federal elections also appeared. One user wrote: “Explain to me how it is undermining our elections by having the military ensure that no one stuffs ballot boxes with compromised ballots? Get real. If your party didn’t cheat so much to stay in office, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

Someone else wrote: “Typical Democrat. Cheat in an election, then blame the other side for trying to cheat.” Another user agreed, saying, “Why do you think it’s a problem? Maybe illegals are voting for you.”

It’s still impossible to tell whether either Slotkin’s bill or Trump’s SAVE Act will pass in the Senate, but these reactions showcase how divided the issue has been between Democratic and Republican voters.
