Overwatch 2 has no shortage of heroes to mess around with as you’re figuring out your chosen playstyle. When you want someone deadly, Reaper is a great character to turn to. He’s a veteran in the Overwatch universe, so those who’ve played the game before will recognize him. Although he’s mostly the same, he does see a damage and speed buff like other Damage role characters. For those new to Reaper, we’ll guide you through his abilities in Overwatch 2, so you can see if he’ll turn into one of your favorite characters.
Reaper Abilities in Overwatch 2
If you play as Reaper, you enter a match intending to rack up as much damage as possible. Reaper hits hard as long as he’s up close. So, prepare to jump right into the action with him in any match.
Before we offer some tips on how to utilize him, let’s look at all of Reaper’s abilities, including his weapons and ultimate in Overwatch 2.
General Reaper Abilities
- Wraith Form: Faster movement and gain invulnerability, but you cannot shoot.
- Shadow Step: Teleport to a targeted location.
Passive Reaper Abilities in Overwatch 2
- The Reaping: The damage you deal also heals you.
Weapons & Ultimate
- Hellfire Shotguns: Short-range spread weapons.
- Death Blossom: Damages all nearby enemies.
Tips on Using Reaper in Overwatch 2
To shell out damage as the Reaper, you must get in close. Note that the shotguns are nerfed a bit if you’ve played him in the previous game. The damage is reduced to 5.4, but the spread is up to 7. So, to make the most of Reaper in Overwatch 2, get within a foot or so of the enemy. This way, you can deal the most damage possible and get a good spread to hit multiple targets.
It also works alongside The Reaping since you’re constantly regaining health, turning you into a nuisance for the enemy team.
For abilities, Wraith Form is great on offense and defense. It can help you close in on a low-health opponent in a flash. Meanwhile, the ability can help you get out of a dangerous situation and get closer to your team if you’ve been pushed further away.
Don’t forget that Reaper is good for surprise attacks in Overwatch 2, thanks to Shadow Step. However, the move is unfortunately apparent. So, be sure the enemy doesn’t see you, as they’ll head over and attack while you’re still vulnerable.
With the ultimate, you want to use Death Blossom on the enemies with a bit of a lower health pool. It’s a strong attack, but it won’t knock out those tanks. Also, Reaper can get knocked out of the ultimate. So, the best way to use it is on enemies that are already close to going down.
