Ultimate charge system will also be altered, and hero designers are working on resolving issues with heroes receiving their ultimate too much or too little.
Overwatch 2 Season 3
Release Date
The release date of Overwatch 2‘s new season is still unconfirmed by Blizzard. However, each season lasts for nine weeks, and Season 3 is set to begin on February 7. Season 3 may be delayed, similar to what happened with the second season of Warzone 2.
A New Map
A new map is expected to be introduced every other season, with potential maps such as the underwater location “Atlantic Arcology.” We’ll receive an undersea map this year, even in season 3.
A New Skin
Overwatch 2‘s new map will have a new Mythic skin which can be acquired at the final tier of the premium battle pass. These skins are unique as they are customizable, and only one hero receives one per season. In previous seasons, Genji and Junker Queen received Mythic skins, and it is yet to be seen who will receive them in Season 3.
Hero Updates and Other Improvements (Sojourn Mercy, Rammattra, Reward System)
The Overwatch team has confirmed changes to the Sojourn with a Mercy pairing. So, the Sojourn x Mercy duo will be nerfed due to its overpowering nature. The ultimate charge system will also be adjusted, allowing players to retain 30% of their ultimate charge when switching heroes during a match.
There will also be updates to the reward system, with more choice for players in what rewards they unlock and in which order. There will be changes to tanks in open queue and other arcade modes, with a lowering of tank health outside the role queue.
