Any Overwatch fans keeping an eye on the official Twitter account over the weekend might have noted the subtle tease of a new character. Earlier today, this new mystery hero has finally been announced: Sigma, but that is about all we know for sure.

In the handful of teases released on social media, a classical, piano tune can be heard in the background while mathematical symbols float through the air. The origin video below begins the same way before we begin to delve into Sigma’s character. Sigma, a scientist obsessed with gravity, has begun to experiment with the potential power of harnessing a black hole. From there, the narrative of the video begins to skip forward and backwards in time.

From what we can see in the video, it seems as if this obviously mad scientist will fall into the tank category with his bulky, robotic exoskeleton. As the video comes to an end, Sigma is pictured with Sombra, Widowmaker, Moira, and other characters belonging to Talon, Overwatch’s terrorist organization.

As of this writing, Blizzard has yet to announce the power and abilities associated with Overwatch’s new tank, and there has been no news as to when he will be available in the PTR. But, in the meantime, Overwatch fans have plenty to keep them busy with the Summer Games in full swing, the recent announcement of role queue, and Stage Four of the Overwatch League about to begin.

Are you looking forward to seeing what Sigma can do? Do you have any theories or ideas on what his abilities might be and how he’ll play into the meta? Are you enjoying the Overwatch Summer Games event so far? Let us know in the comments below, and keep coming back to The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
