“Silver-Winging It!” is out of the way, and the trio of Caleri, Zeki, and Elousia are happy, right? Sort of. They still need your help solving the mystery on the islands. To do that, you’ll tackle another multi-part mission. In Palia, mystery shrouds the Temple of the Gales, so Caleri needs your help clearing some of it up in “It Takes a Village.” It’s our job now to discover the food source for the Silverwing hatchlings. So, prepare your fishing rod. We’ve got some fish to catch.

There are two main parts for the Palia “It Takes a Village” questline with Caleri:

  • Activate the island’s Flow Gate
  • Find a food source and catch additional Cloudminnows

There are some reports of players experiencing complications or bugs with this questline. They’ll be tackled as we reach them in the guide.

How To Activate the Flow Gate

This part of “It Takes a Village” in Palia can get confusing if not buggy whether you’re on Caleri’s part or the others. The Temple of the Gales is quite large, and you can’t get to the islands you think you can right away. You must activate the Flow Gates so you can safely glide your way across the various gaps. Once you near these Gates, an indicator should tell you to interact to activate.

You cannot activate any Flowstone Gates on the main island. Instead, you’ll have to go to the windmill and pond islands and activate those portals. When you approach the Gates, you should see the request to activate them. Sometimes it can be temperamental, so consider checking for the activation prompt at different angles. Caleri should appear so you can continue with the rest of the quest.

Once the Palia Temple of the Gales Gates become active, Caleri will steer you toward the second part of her “It Takes a Village” quest. She’ll suggest that we need food for the soon-to-be hatchlings. Now, it’s time for you to fish.

Fishing is the primary objective for Caleri’s portion of the quest. There are four fishing ponds and their locations all feature a giant pillar with the outline of a fish on it. The issue comes with tracking each pond down.

Fish Pond #1

In Palia “It Takes a Village,” you can find the first pond from the Flowstone Gate where Caleri is as pictured below. It’s her second location on the islands:

From there, jump across the broken bridge and scale the wall. You’ll run up the ramp and enter the first opening archway to the left:

Now, glide across the gap and scale the wall ahead. Run through the shallow water up the stairs to find the fish pillar and the pond behind it. All that’s left is to use your rod and catch the fish:

Fish Pond #2

From our first pond location, stand along the edge of the pond and look to your right. There’s a windmill you must glide toward. While you glide, you can notice the next pool above you on the first area you can land on. So, it’ll take some gliding and climbing to reach it:

Jump and glide to use the vines to climb up each floating section. You’ll soon reach a wider gap that you must glide across. Once there, use the wind to float upwards to the next section of vines:

Once you climb up, run straight and cross the gap to the next section. The pool is at the end:

Fish Pond #3

We’re almost done with Caleri’s portion of “It Takes a Village” in Palia. Now, from the second pool location, look off to the left. In the distance, you’ll see the third pool as pictured below:

Glide to the forest-like area to the right and complete the short climb until you can get to the bridge:

The rest is simple. Glide and parkour the rest of the area from the right side. Once at the top, you’ll reach the pool.

Fish Pond #4

This may be the easiest pond you can reach for Caleri’s “It Takes a Village” Palia quest. From your position on the third pond, glide back to the area you started by the trees and the bridge. Keep heading straight, and you’ll notice this same area from when you searched for the first pool:

Instead, you want to go straight toward the tall tree where the cliff edge is. Look down and you’ll see the pond. We could have gone after this one first, but taking the path we did allowed us to form a nice circle.

All you have to do is jump down and quickly glide over the land by the pond. And now you can fish for the final Cloudminnow. After you’re done, return to Caleri to conclude her portion of this quest.

It Takes a Village Caleri – Tips

The most important thing to keep in mind is that, as of now, the Palia Temple of the Gales only has four fish for four ponds. Once you fish in one, you cannot catch another fish in the same pond. If you accidentally cook the fish, you might be out of luck unless you can contact the devs for a support ticket. Players have mentioned on Reddit doing so and receiving the fish in question.

Just remember that you need those fish for the quest. It’s probably best for you to complete the Palia “It Takes a Village” questline before doing anything else inside or outside the Temple of the Gales. This can save you from any future complications.

Palia is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
