Paradise Lost offers a rather unique look at games featuring an alternate reality.
Now, thanks to Gamescom’s online extravaganza, All In! Games gave us another look at their take on this particular genre.
Coming to Steam at some point in 2020, the new trailer shows off a bit of the world players will be able to check out. Set some time after World War II, this isn’t a game that will have you fighting the battles all over again.
In Paradise Lost, the war is over. The Nazi’s won. They also wiped out most of Europe with a nuclear bomb.
You’ll be playing as a young girl who is trying to find other survivors in the wasteland that was once her home. The new trailer, dropped at Gamescom 2020 will show one of the big bunkers the young girl will happen across during her journeys.
This is a walking simulator in the truist sense. This isn’t a game where you’re going to be fighting the Nazis or any other kind of big bad. Instead, the point of Paradise Lost is to check out a world that has been decimated by war, but is still plenty pretty to look at.
When you do find that bunker in Paradise Lost, you’re going to realize you found more than you were expecting.
“Explore themes of retrofuturism, transhumanism, and grief in Paradise Lost, an emotion-driven post-apoc story. Discover the mystery of the underground city hidden in an abandoned Nazi bunker, where Slavic mythology mixes with unusual technology.”
While the game is supposed to land on Steam later this year, the Gamescom didn’t bring a release date with it. There isn’t much time left in the year.
If Paradise Lost does finally arrive in 2020, it seems likely it’s going to be arriving soon.
