With all the big changes that happened in Path of Exile 2 that most players, particularly PoE vets, aren’t used to, there are some things that just need a bit extra explaining. One of the biggest things I found within the sequel that confused me at first was the use of Charms. Since we don’t have magic flasks anymore, it only makes sense that there would be a sort of replacement that uses charges, but it’s still quite different. Let’s take a look at Charms in Path of Exile 2 and how they work.
What Are PoE 2 Charms?
Charms are, in the most basic sense, a way to protect yourself from various ailments, effects, and damage types. The most basic of them give you a certain percentage of elemental resistance, while others can do things like prevent you from being stunned or frozen. Each one has a specific use, and they can be a massive game changer.
However, there’s a bit of a twist when it comes to how they work. Much like flasks, they have a certain amount of charges that can be used, and they only activate when you take a certain type of damage. That said, they also differ from flasks in the sense that they cannot be manually activated and you can’t see how many charges remain on each of them. Each flask can be crafted on, as well as recharged at any Well in a town.
